About Jamendo Licensing
Jamendo Licensing offers artists an opportunity to license their music for commercial use in advertisements, video games, TV shows, and video content globally, using our Catalog service.
Additionally, Jamendo Licensing extends its services to provide background music for public establishments such as shops and restaurants, enhancing the atmosphere and customer experience. This service is called In-Store Radio service.
By participating in Jamendo' Licensing Program, artists can reach a vast network of professionals and receive fair revenue shares for each placement.
Licensing Catalog
Jamendo License provides various synchronization licenses, allowing the use of a single track in one project, such as online videos, podcasts, mobile apps, or video games. These perpetual licenses enable indefinite use of the song in the specified project. Pricing varies based on usage rights, with options for individual or subscription-based licenses.
Tracks submitted for the Jamendo Catalog undergo moderation for quality and relevance before being accepted. The Jamendo Catalog features thousands of songs from Jamendo artists, and customers can search for songs using specific terms. As a result, making sure your tracks are correctly tagged is essential for visibility in the Jamendo Licensing.
Revenue Share
The revenue share for Catalog licenses depends on two factors:
- Number of licenses sold on Jamendo Licensing
- The exclusivity of your tracks and whether your tracks are licensed exclusively or non-exclusively on Jamendo.
As a result, your revenue share percentaage will vary 30% - 65%. You can see your current revenue share in the My Transactions tab of your Jamendo Artist account:
Catalog license revenue is ingested monthly and becomes payable after four months.
In-Store Radio
The In-Store license enables Jamendo's clients to access a range of royalty-free radio channels that showcase various music genres, ideal for background music in public venues such as bars, restaurants, and retail stores. Our In-Store clientele is global, with a strong presence in France, Spain, Poland, and other European nations.
When you submit your tracks for consideration in In-Store Radio, they will be evaluated for quality and genre relevance, as it is essential that they fit the specific styles of the stations.
If your tracks are approved, they will be included in the selection from which our music team curates the radio playlists. However, acceptance does not guarantee that your tracks will be featured on a station. Our playlists are updated monthly, meaning your tracks may be added or removed periodically, with the possibility of being reintroduced later on.
Revenue Share
To qualify for a revenue share, your track must be featured on one of our In-Store radios during a specific month. Jamendo allocates 50% of the monthly net revenue generated from In-Store Radio to the artists whose tracks were played in that month.
For instance, if your track is played on an In-Store radio in January, you and the other artists whose music was featured that month will collectively receive 50% of the net revenue that Winamp earned from In-Store sales for January.
In-Store Setup Fee
25% of the gross revenue received from all In-Store radio sales is retained by Jamendo to cover the maintenance of In-Store radios. 50% of the remaining net revenue is then shared with the artists featured in In-Store radios.
In-Store Radio revenue is ingested on a quarterly basis with a one-year waiting period of one year.

Moderation Process & Stauses
The Jamendo moderation process was put into place, to ensure the quality of the content provided to clients and that it aligns with their needs. This means that all newly submitted tracks are moderated manually by Jamendo's music experts. Our team listens to each track individually and submits or rejects the track depending on different criteria.
During the moderation process, your track can have one of these three statuses:
Status | Description |
The track is currently in the moderation queue.
The track has been accepted for the licensing program.
The track has been rejected for the licensing program. |
It's worth noting that:
- To check the moderation status of each individual track in an album, simply click on the two small arrows located next to it:
- Your tracks could be approved for Catalog but declined for In-Store. This means that they do not fit in with the music genres we utilize for In-Store radio.
- If your tracks have been rejected, you cannot resubmit them. You can, however, modify them and present a new version for consideration again.
